Microsoft: Xbox 360

Microsoft first introduced the Xbox 360 in May of 2005. This was a huge outbreak to video game consoles of the seventh generation, and showed us what our technology is capable of creating. The Xbox 360 comes equiped with many different features depending on which model you were to go with. There are three types of models offered to us, which are Xbox 360 Arcade, Pro, and Elite. The Arcade addition is the lowest grade model of the three and includes a 256MB flash, with 5 Xbox arcade games. Next, is the Pro addition, which offeres two types of memory, 20 or 60GB, both vary in price. Last, is the best avaliable addition, the Elite. The Elite addition is the most expensive at $400, and provides you with the most amount of memory at 120GB.
With the release of the Xbox 360, it created a mainstream for other competeting companies to relinquish their products such as, the Nintendo Wii and Playstation 3.

  1. This is a classic example of price discrimination. It allows Microsoft to reach a broader audience without dumbing down its product.

    Unfortunately, there seems to be a compatibility problem with the original XBox games. This is unacceptable. There is no reason that there isn't any backwards compatibility. Sony made the same mistake with their new models. Nintendo has been making this mistake until the Wii. Their new DSi is also killing compatibility with previous systems.

  2. I have a Xbox Pro system and I am very happy with it. When doing research before I bought the Xbox I looked at pros and cons and user review and also future games that were coming out for it. THe games are great the Xbox Live is great and the updates are everything a gamer could ask for. I love it it was worth every penny.

  3. I've honestly never been into the Xbox. I played it once over a friends house and didn't really like the controller (i'm one of thos people that it takes a while to get used to something) and I like going for the best, so I would end up getting the most expensive one. I think I just figured I already have playstation and it works just fine, what would be the point in the Xbox?

  4. I am not really into games but, as per my boys in my life they love to play games. We have a playstation at home and they love it. When we go to other family or friends house that is when they play XBox. I agree with Kelly if the playstation or whatever works fine what is the point of having all these different systems. Further, more they are so expensive whenever they come out with a new version.

  5. I love my ebox and my pink contoller lol. Beautiful katamari is an awesome game it may look girly but everyone should try it its fun lol. My favorite games are fighting ones i think im going to go play soul calibur right now. Thank you xbox. I think everone tends to like the system that they get used to first. I love my xbox but ive only played playstation a few times and i just dont like it. But the people who have a play station say the same about xbox so each to his own. They all pretty much work the same and are all to expensive but i love it.

  6. Although I haven't played Xbox in a long time, I used to be an avid online player. I've played online with the other consoles in the class, and the xbox is unmatched when it comes to online gaming.

  7. Hell yeah X-BAWKS 360!

    Off topic, but still tangential;

    Whether you give a rat's ass about them or not (or even know what I’m ranting about), I'll never understand how people don't have more Achievements. It's not like you can turn them off. And most games give you about 300-500 for just beating them, doing little out of the ordinary.

    I've had my 360 since October 2007 and it always surprises me to look at Gamertags with 3 to 4 times as many different games as I've played with far less than half the pts I've just gotten casually. And I've not played any of the easy 1000/1000 games like King Kong or Avatar or whatever. In fact the only game I can recall playing multiple times to get points is Dead Rising. Dead Rising actually rewards you for achievements, making them meaningful, as opposed to pretty much every other game.

    I guess it is as I've always suspected; most people just don't beat games like I don’t finish books or movies. What’s notable is how they're forced on you, I don't want any part of this but there's no way to turn it off. How is that even legal, I mean there should be something in my gaming bill of rights about this. It's invasive to my videogame playing. And Sony, way to roll over and paw the air at the first sign of the forum rabble batting their eyes and sucking their thumbs because your machine doesn't work exactly like an entirely separate machine that does it's own thing just fine.

  8. (Chris Eustace)Xbox 360 is an awesome system. The graphics are unbelievable. Playing sports games on the 360 is like watching an actual sporting event. The things that are being put out on the market are incredible.
