Film Editing: Non-Lnear Editing Systems

The expanding power and flexibility of modern computers has allowed for the video editing process to transition from using a flatbed (physically cutting and pasting the footage) to using a relatively inexpensive computer and editing software. While these technologies have been available to the professional market for over decade, a market has opened up for professional level editing software running on consumer-grade equipment, opening up the creative field of video editing to more people. The most popular editing software for its abundance of features to its realatively small price is Apple's Final Cut Studio. Attached is a link to the site and the services that Final Cut offers for video editors.

  2. With this new film editing program, everyone has the ability to produce fine quality videos without the price of paying a professional. New parents and grandparents alike would surely appreciate this type of software so that they can not only capture those precious moments of their lives, but have the finished product a masterpiece. This new film editing software may also open up some new career choices for some people that aren’t very techno savvy but could use some extra money a by putting together memory videos for showers, weddings, and even funerals. The art of video recording has come a long way from the 8mm my dad used to use when I was young, to the hard disk drive camcorders of today. I’m sure he’s looking forward to being able to produce more masterpieces of his great grandchildren.

  3. The best thing about Final Cut is that is easy to use. It's only a small step from Windows Movie Maker or iMovie to understand the basics of editing and it offers way more features obviously. If you are looking to create home movies and archive them, then Final Cut is definitely for you.

  7. This will dramatically cut the time it takes to properly edit a film. This would make it much more accessible to amateurs who want to make their own movie. Since it's all digital, you don't have to worry about actually cutting film.

Add all of the special effects software, and anyone can make any kind of movie.
