General Electric believes that in the near future we will be able to store 500 of your very own favorite movies onto one single disc. Regular CD's, DVD's, and Blu-ray discs only use one dimension, but GE's holographic data storage adds two more dimensions to the information. This allows us the ability to store more information onto one disc. To read more about this new technology click on the link below.

A disk with 500 movie on it? That is insane! If you are one who own a plethera of movies, I can see where this might come in handy.
ReplyDeleteMy living room would look much more organized that is for sure! I would have more room for storage of other "stuff"
ReplyDeleteThis is exactly what I have been looking for. What a way to compact technology. My father owns so much entertainment on discs, dvds, blu-rays, etc that you can find it from one side of the house to the other. This could pave the way for individuals to be able to have A video cabinet instead of several.
ReplyDeleteI don't think i could name 500 movies that i like let alone would purchase. This is an amazing achievement for all those collectors. Can't wait to see how this effects the memory status in computers as well.
ReplyDeleteThat is totally awesome. you would never have to leave your house! the space the movies take up must be very compacted.
ReplyDeletethis is exactly where our information technology has to go. The right direction is ahead. But with so much avaiable storage (500 gb's on one CD is rediculiously too much) how will we beable to organize all of it! Well hologram storage means that it is 3 demensional. It may be hard to fathom this right now but im sure our children will understand it as second nature. This will be the foundation in the future of data storage otherwise own as the "holy grail"
