This kinda goes with the the video on drive in movies I posted below. This link is a website on the history of drive in movies through the years. Its an interesting website. I really think they need to start bringing back drive in movies. I think it would be just a great experience! What do you think?

  1. When I was a kid we never went to the sit down theaters, it cost too much and they were no where near the fun. I loved going to the drive-in movies. Dad would put the seat down in the old malabui station wagon; Mom would pack up the cooler with goodies and we were off. We would always go early before the sun went down to play on the swings and run around. I know now why Dad wanted to do that, it gave us a chance to burn some energy before settling in for the flick. Anyway, thanks for the walk down memory lane!

  2. My memories of drive in movies revolve around piling 8 guys into a car and packing 3 of us into the trunk because they would charge each individual person to enter. It didn't take too long for the owners of the drive in to start charging per car. But the best part was when someone would leave the car to get popcorn and the rest of us would move the car. It was a riot watching the boys trying to find our car among the 200 cars in the drive in. What fun times.

  3. The drive-in movie was the best. We would pile in the car or the back of the truck (back when you didn't need to be in a seat, buckled up). It would be cold out and we would still take the truck, it fit more people. We'd bring a bunch of blankets to keep warm. Tom's comment about moving the car is funny. There were so many cars, it was enough trying to remember where you parked, but moving the car...too funny. The last drive-in movie I went to was in California in 1987. Kids don't know what they are missing. There is a drive-in theatre about a couple hours away in PA, not sure of the name of the town. My sister and a friend both take their families to it. What great memories!

  4. I am too young to ever get to experience a drive-in movie, but I think it would be really cool if they brought some back for those who never got to experience it. I remember when I was little there was like one left more so for nostalgic reasons somewhere in Bucks County I believe, and my mom toyed around with the idea of taking me there. We never got around to it, but I wish we did!

  5. I was very young but I LOVED going to the drive in theater. We would sit in or on my parents old Chevelle and eat popcorn. I remember the little speakers that you would put on your window so you could hear what was going on. They usually would stay for a double feature. I think I fell asleep by the time the second movie even started.
